From waste to profit, meet the king of upcycling and recycling

By Think Local Media

Some careers are googled! Tawanda Zinoro’s (39) first encounter with a wooden pallet was on Pinterest after a small discussion with a friend over the phone and this ignited his interest in turning used pallets into furniture. Based in Mandara, the Pallet House is a green start up that specialises in upcycling broken and used wooden pallets into indoor and outdoor furniture.

Pallets are wooden crates used in warehouses for storing or transporting raw materials and finished products. In Zimbabwe, beverages and manufacturing companies such as Delta Corporation, Brands Fresh and Mega Pack make use of wooden pallets.

Working in a garage, Tawanda currently employs 04 carpenters and is looking to grow the team as demand for pallet furniture increases. The Pallet House has worked on several big projects including Queen of Hearts in Newlands, Afropolitan Restaurant Bar and Grill, Meikles Limited and First Mutual Limited.
